The Stranger in the Woods: the extraordinary story of the Last True Hermit by Michael Finkel
Can you imagine just walking away from it all? Christopher Knight did just that at the age of 20 in 1986. He got in his car one afternoon and drove as far as his car would take him into the woods of Maine. He started walking with his tent, no other supplies, and didn’t look back. He lived in the woods of Maine for 27 years. In that time he did not see or speak to another human until he was captured by an officer in April of 2013. He never lit a fire, never went shopping for food, clothing or supplies. How did he survive? How did he stay warm? How and what did he eat? How could he not have any contact with the human race for 27 years? I found this book very intriguing. I think you will too. All your questions will be answered. Enjoy!
