Editor’s note: In honor of the 2018 “Libraries Rock” summer reading theme we reached out to Cleveland rock and roll icon Michael Stanley to hear his thoughts on libraries. He was kind enough to take a moment out of his busy schedule to share this great story with us:

When you grow up the son of a librarian you are quickly introduced to the wonders of libraries. And right from the start I never resisted but gave into the process; get your library card…figure out where the books that dealt with your favorite subjects resided…and marvel that you could take your ”finds” home and then return to search for more treasures.

I have passed on to my own children my mother’s words: “You’re never alone when you have a book…and they will take you wherever you want to go.” And it all starts at the library.

Be sure to tune in to 98.5 Monday – Friday from 3 – 7 p.m. to hear Michael spin classic rock jams. And, of course, don’t miss the chance to catch him at an upcoming show.

And, if you don’t own all 18+ albums he has recorded, we can show you the way. Stream/download albums on Hoopla or place holds on physical CDs via the Clevnet catalog
