This young lady won a summer-reading prize last year.

Summer reading at GCPL is back, and it’s better than ever. With more than 200 programs and activities for people of all ages, there is something for everyone. Bookworms will appreciate the idea of lounging at the beach or in a hammock with a fun paperback. Check out any of our displays to find your next favorite book, or better yet, ask any of our friendly library staff members. They are passionate about sharing ideas.

On those super hot and sticky summer days, visit our air-conditioned buildings and enjoy a movie with popcorn. See Lines & Links for a complete listing of our movies and programs. Storytime is a great reason for parents to browse our stacks. Children and teens are invited discover our exploration stations that foster curiosity. We’ve got programs to get kids moving (“Learn to ride a bike” and “Teddy-bear yoga“) and events to get you out and about (“Ohio Chautauqua” and “Family fun night with United Way at Mayfield Drive-in” or “A moveable feast“). Let your creative juices flow at either of our “Paint and sip” sessions at Bainbridge or Chardon. I could go on, but you’ll find plenty to peruse in our events calendar.

Did you know that more than 60,000¬†Geauga County citizens have library cards? Last year, they checked out more than two million materials! Actually, 2,132,736 items to be exact. We encourage you keep reading, learning and growing with us. I’m looking forward to seeing you in our libraries this summer. Read on, Geauga!
